This Policy applies only to information collected through the Site. Information you share with us once you become a client — including tax records, financial documents, and identification — is handled under the terms of your engagement letter and our internal information security program, and is governed by federal and state laws applicable to tax practitioners, including IRC Section 7216 and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.

By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly. When you fill out our contact form, we collect the information you submit, which typically includes your name, email address, phone number (if provided), and the contents of your message. When you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your name and email address.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our web host may automatically log basic technical information when you visit the Site, including your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URL, and the date and time of your visit. This information is used for security, troubleshooting, and basic site operation. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or third-party tracking technologies on the Site.

Cookies. Our Site may use a small number of essential cookies necessary for the Site to function properly. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may affect Site functionality.

Children. The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information you provide to:

  • Respond to your inquiries and follow up about the services you've asked about
  • Send you newsletters and updates you've subscribed to receive
  • Maintain the security and proper functioning of the Site
  • Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

3. How We Share Information

We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

Service providers. We use third-party vendors to operate the Site and deliver communications, including our website host and our email service provider (used to send newsletters). These vendors process information on our behalf and are contractually limited to using it only for the services they provide to us.

Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, property, or the safety of others.

Business transfers. If our practice is sold, merged, or otherwise transferred, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. Any successor will be bound by this Policy or will provide notice of any changes.

4. How We Protect Information

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information we collect through the Site. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, bank account details, or tax documents through the contact form or by ordinary email. We will provide you with a secure portal once you become a client.

5. Data Retention

We retain contact form submissions and newsletter records for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, or as required by law. You may request deletion at any time using the contact information below.

6. Your Choices

Newsletter. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email, or by emailing us directly.

Communications. You can ask us to stop contacting you at any time by emailing us.

Access and correction. You may request a copy of the information we hold about you from the Site, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, subject to any legal obligations we have to retain it.

7. California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, provides you with the following rights regarding personal information we collect through the Site:

  • Right to know what categories of personal information we have collected, the sources, the purposes for collection, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it
  • Right to access the specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you
  • Right to delete personal information we have collected, subject to certain exceptions
  • Right to correct inaccurate personal information
  • Right to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law
  • Right to limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not collect sensitive personal information through the Site for purposes that trigger this right
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights

In the past 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information through the Site: identifiers (name, email, IP address), contact information (phone number, if provided), and internet activity information (basic server logs). We collect this information directly from you and from your device, and we use it for the purposes described in Section 2.

To exercise any of these rights, email us using the contact information below. We will verify your request by confirming your control of the email address associated with the information. You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.

8. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there is no consistent industry standard for interpreting this signal, our Site does not currently respond to it. As noted above, we do not use third-party tracking technologies on the Site.

9. Third-Party Links

The Site may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any information.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated by posting a prominent notice on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
